Dr Amar Daud Iskandar

Dr Amar Daud Iskandar Abdullah is a neuroscientist by training with over a decade of experience spanning research, teaching, programme development, and university governance. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at Sunway University and Scientific Research Advisor to JMD Wellness Sdn Bhd, where he provides scientific oversight for evidencebased resilience and wellness interventions.

His research focuses on neuroinflammation and brain injury, with work conducted across Malaysia, Australia, and through a range of national and international collaborations. To date, he has authored 18 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals, secured over MYR 785,000 in competitive research funding, and codeveloped an international patent (WO2025168750) in collaboration with the University of Melbourne and CSL, Australia.

As an active institutional contributor, Dr Amar chairs the Sunway University Early Career Researchers Network (ECRN) and serves on multiple university- and facultylevel committees. He has played a key role in the design, development, and accreditation of academic programmes, including the upcoming Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BPharm) and the recently established Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme at Sunway University. He has also collaborated with Lancaster University (UK) to align programme standards with MQA requirements and international benchmarks. More recently, he has been appointed at the faculty level to lead the development of Employability Strategy for Biosciences students.

Beyond the university, he has contributed to national policy as a Parliamentary Advisor on the Tobacco Control Bill. His broader impact has been recognised through several awards, including the Community Impact in Cancer Care Award by the National Cancer Society of Malaysia and the Faculty Entrepreneurial Staff Award for his contributions to industry–academia partnerships.
